OPI trains Taiz women in advocacy for participation in the upcoming election
Yemen Organization for Promoting Integrity (OPI) launches a four-day training in the effective communication skills and advocacy at Al-Saeed's venue in Taiz province.
It targeted fifteen woman from the political parties, civil society organizations, the media, the private sector and individual activists.
Mrs. Nabiha Tarish who is the head of Yemen Women's Union in the province of Taiz affirms at the opening of the session the importance of the course to promote community partnership and empowerment of women in Yemen to effectively participate in change and development towards modern civil state. "The training of women will enhance the capacity of their self-leadership in the community, especially in the next phase associated with the public election", she said.
The training course comes under the program "support women's participation in political and economic decision in Yemen", which is implemented by OPI in partnership with MEPI Middle (MEPI), targeting 30 woman actor in the provinces of Taiz and Hodeida.
The chairman of OPI, Ahmed Alzekri said that the training events works on educate the participant women knowledge and skills for effective communication and advocacy so that they could implement an advocacy campaign for women's participation in public life, especially in the upcoming elections to use of the outputs of the national dialogue, which adopts granting women a proportion of at least 30% of the seats in the all elected bodies.
